Walking in the Way

£10.00

There are psalms, and then there is Psalm 119. Charles Spurgeon called it “an utterance of spiritual life”. This verse-by-verse study takes you on a journey, through life’s ups and downs, the moments of rejoicing and the times of failure and doubt. This psalm comes from a heart that wants to see you be victorious, to truly walk by faith and not by sight. My earnest desire for you is that you would fall in love with God’s Word, and my prayer is that, as we study this psalm together, you will see that you’re not on your own. This psalm is here to help you walk the walk, but not by giving you some well-worn clichés, patting you on the back and saying ‘now, off you go!’, but by being a practical guide from someone who has already journeyed along this path, reached the end, and then holds out a hand and says “Here, let me help you”.

Description

This verse-by-verse study of Psalm 119 by pastor Barry Forder is intended as a guide for the Christian life. Oswald Chambers notes that we are not to become like Jesus by trying to imitate Him (that will only end in failure), but by receiving His very nature within us through the Holy Spirit. It is then a case of ‘working out’ what He has ‘worked in’. We are to “walk by faith, not by sight”.  This is the ideal and should be the goal for every Christian. But how? How are we to do this when we are continually wrestling against the world, the flesh and the devil?

It is in order to try and answer the ‘how to’ question that we have this Psalm. It is a ‘beginner’s guide’ for all ages, drawn from the psalmist’s own life and experience.
